A bit about Vera Gang Scott:

The Vera Gang Scott Scholarship was established in 1972 with the ECW Board of the Diocese of Texas Ms. Scott by an endowment from her life's savings. In the 1920's, Scott received aid for her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the women of Trinity Episcopal Church in Galveston. She kept careful track of all the money she received Trinity Episcopal Church and after starting work as a social worker, she repaid every cent she had received. The aid she repaid became the seed for the what became Vera Gang Scott Scholarship Fund. Scott's dream was to help other women, as she had been helped.

Although Ms. Scott resided in many states, Scott always considered herself a Texan. She led an active life as an educator and continued to be involved in service to others. Of all her accomplishments, Scott was extremely proud to have had Vera Scott Elementary School in Colorado Springs named in her honor.
