Anniversary Celebration Raises Funds for LOTS

The Rev. Steven Capper Named New Vicar

The annual fundraising luncheon for Lord of the Streets raised more than $215,000, May 22. A lively group of 300 gathered at the Junior League of Houston to celebrate the 25th anniversary of LOTS and their work with Houston’s homeless population.

The Rev. Steven Capper, former rector of Redeemer, Houston was named to succeed the Rev. Bob Flick as vicar of LOTS. All former vicars of the ministry were featured in a video at the luncheon, which also featured keynote speaker Caren Thomas, a member of the bishop’s committee.

“The response we received exceeded all expectations thanks to compassionate and generous supporters who understand the need for an outreach ministry benefiting the homeless,” said Tom Tellepsen, II, one of the founding supporters of the ministry. “This annual gathering to share a common bond has become a welcome tradition influenced by a wise saying that charity sees the need, not the cause," he added.
