Bishop Andy Doyle Announces Magill Resignation

Bishop Andy Doyle announced today that he had received and accepted the resignation of the Rev. Beth Magill, Associate Missioner for Congregational Initiatives for the Episcopal Diocese of Texas.

“Over the past year, Beth has done excellent work, expanding and strengthening campus ministry and supporting our congregations,” Bishop Doyle said. “We are grateful for her giftedness and support her desire to discern a new call.”

Magill called her work for the Diocese of Texas, both as missioner for the University of Texas and with congregational initiatives, “formative” adding that it had helped to deepen her “passion to nurture the life of Christian communities.”

“I believe my call at this point in my ministry is to the parish, rather than serving in a diocesan position,” Magill said, adding, “I am grateful for the opportunities, for Bishop Doyle, the Mission Amplification Team, diocesan staff and for all the clergy and the lay people with whom I have worked over the past year.  I look forward to what lies ahead."

The Rev. Kai Ryan, Canon to the Ordinary, responded to the resignation: “Beth has been an incredible member of our team and has dedicated herself to serve at an exciting time in the Diocese. I’m confident that her next call will bring even more blessings to God’s people.”

During a period of discernment, Magill said she will focus on fundraising for Magdalene House Austin and other personal projects.
