Bishop Fisher to Join Prayer Vigil on Eve of Election

Jeff W. Fisher, bishop suffragan of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas will join Joseph Strickland, bishop-elect of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tyler on Sunday evening at 5 pm in a prayer vigil for the election. The vigil will take place on the Tyler courthouse square and people of all faiths are invited to come.

"In this election year," Bishop-elect Strickland said, "let us gather and pray for our nation."

Fisher was elected on June 2, 2012 by delegates representing the Diocese of Texas’ 152 congregations. Strickland’s appointment was announced in October by Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, apostolic nuncio to the United States. Fisher was consecrated bishop on October 6 at Caldwell Auditorium where Strickland will be ordained and installed on Nov. 28.

“I look forward to sharing ministry in this area of Texas with Bishop-elect Strickland,” said Fisher. “I’m delighted to begin our new ministries together with this prayer vigil and look forward to a future of other opportunities to share.”
