Bishop Andy Doyle and Camp Allen today announced a weekend music festival, featuring the Austin Lounge Lizards and other groups, to be held at Camp Allen, May 18-20. Participants are invited to bring their own instruments as well. The family weekend will provide a springtime getaway in the piney woods for families of all ages.

The Labor Day Family Camp has been a sell out each year, noted Bishop Doyle, so he and other music lovers thought it would be fun to repeat this format in the Spring.  George Dehan, president of Camp Allen, hopes to “build a tradition in the spring that allows musicians to share their talent and provide a time for children to have a weekend outing before the heat of the summer.”

Camp Allen judges will have special awards for bluegrass, country and pickin’ contests. Guests may also participate in a variety of outdoor activities- from swimming, canoeing, nature hikes, outdoor education classes, archery and more.  Come and enjoy some southern cookin’ and hospitality with the Diocese of Texas family. Packages include two night’s hotel lodging, six buffet meals, refreshments, musical performances and activities.  To learn more or register, call 866-334-CAMP or visit www.campallen.org.
