More than 80 singers, representing 16 parishes, gathered for the 55th Annual Diocesan Choral Festival at Christ Church Cathedral in Houston on October 4 to delight their audience “With Psalms and Hymns and Spiritual Songs.”
Each year, the gathered choir hosts a guest conductor, and 2014’s was Dr. Marilyn Keiser, Chancellor's Professor of Music Emeritus of the Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University and Director of Music at Trinity Episcopal Church in Bloomington, Indiana. The program featured anthems by William Bradley Roberts, Calvin Hampton, Felix Mendelssohn, Andre Thomas and Ralph Vaughan Williams.
"Dr. Keiser is the beloved mentor of many Episcopal musicians,” said Dr. Linda Patterson, chair of the Diocesan Music Commission. “Her repertoire selections was perfect—an inspiring and enjoyable experience for everyone, singers and audience alike.”
