Church of Pakistan Focuses on Youth

The Diocese of Peshawar held a retreat in May for young victims of the terrorist blast that killed and injured a number of Christians at All Saints’ Church in Pakistan’s capital city September 22, 2013.  Thirty-five youth, who had lost loved ones or were injured, attended the retreat to hear speakers, participate in Bible study and counseling. Leaders turned to the theme of early Christian persecution to help youth stand firm in their faith in light of extraordinary difficulties.

Later in the month, the Youth Desk of the National Council of Churches hosted a leadership training event for eight youth members from the Diocese of Peshawar. Participants will go on to design programs for their own youth groups on the theme of peace and development. Further training was held on the importance of education and career counseling.

A sports camp in mid May drew 40 young boys and girls from several churches in the continuing efforts to foster strong networks within the Diocese.
