Compassionate Houston to Hold Weekend of Service on 9/11 Anniversary

The founding partners of Compassionate Houston have decided that the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 is an appropriate weekend to highlight Houston as a "city of compassion." A breakfast meeting is being held with the Rev. Betty Adam from Christ Church Cathedral, the founder of this movement in Houston, to discuss how Compassionate Houston envisions hundreds of congregations and organizations participating in a Compassionate Weekend of Service on the weekend of September 9-11, 2011.

Compassionate Houston is encouraging church leaders across Houston to attend a breakfast on Tuesday, June 21st from 7:30 am – 9:00 am at Interfaith Ministries of Houston’s offices, 3217 Montrose Blvd, to learn how congregations may be involved. If you are unable to attend, but would like to send a representative on your behalf of your parish or community, please feel free to do so.

Please RSVP by Monday, June 20, 10:00 am to Lauren Santerre, , director of Interfaith Relations at Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, at  .

Compassionate Houston is a new non-profit organization formed in Houston to showcase all of the compassionate acts that characterize the city.
