Diocese of Peshawar Reaches Out Through Camps and Community Development

This summer the Diocese of Peshawar held three camps for youth with one focused on providing care for orphans and widows from the church bombing at All Saints’, Peshawar.

Partnering inter-denominationally with South Korean missionaries from the Presbyterian Church, the care camp for orphans provided doctors and psychiatrist to those still dealing with trauma and provided a safe place for spiritual retreat, counseling and prayer.

Youth camp was built around the theme of “Christian Identity” and included sessions on Church history, the path of a Christian and one entitled “His Kingdom and His Righteousness,” all led by the Rev. Shahid Younas from Kohat Parish, with other sessions led by the Rev. Shahzad Murad, Secretary for Mission & Ministry in the diocese.

Children from all over the diocese met at Junior Church Camp to play learn more about “Who is Jesus Christ?’” led by members of the Scripture Union and diocesan volunteers. The camp was focused on introducing the identity of Christ to the young campers.

The Diocesan Development & Relief Sector has also offered training courses aimed to equip women for work in different healthcare fields, including ultrasound, dental and medical technology, sponsored by the Church of Scotland. The diocese also helps sponsor women financially from Peshawar, Mardan, D.I. Khan and Bannu as they work to receive more training in different medical fields.

“I am grateful to the Diocese and its partners for providing this wonderful learning, opportunity as the medical trainings in different fields will uplift our socio-economic status,” said Nasheen Niamat, a 1st year dental training student from Mardan.
