EDOT Communicators Take Home 17 Polly Bond Awards

Polly Bond AwardCommunicators from The Episcopal Diocese of Texas returned from the national Episcopal Communicators Conference with 17 Polly Bond Awards, which acknowledge excellence and achievement in the ministry of church communication. The diocesan communications staff earned 13 awards, including two General Excellence Awards (the highest honor) and three Excellence Awards. The Seminary of the Southwest, Camp Allen, and St. John the Divine, Houston, also won awards.

 

Carol E. Barnwell, EDOT communications director, and LaShane Eaglin, graphics specialist, won the General Excellence Award for the diocesan magazine, Diolog: The Texas Epsicopalian. Barnwell, Eaglin and Luke Blount, staff writer, won another General Excellence Award for the diocesan e-newsletter, Diolog E-News. Barnwell also won an award for the cover photo of the first issue of the Diolog magazine, and Eaglin capped off a spectacular night with three Awards of Excellence for visual design and seven other awards for visual design, website and photography. 

 

The Seminary of the Southwest gathered three awards. Nancy Springer-Baldwin, vice president for communication, won the Award of Excellence for the video "Academic Studies at the Seminary." She also won two other awards for visual design. Rebecca Llenos, communications director at St. John the Divine, Houston, took home the Award of Excellence for the monthly video updates. And Camp Allen's marketing and development coordinator, Lauren Day, also received honors as Eaglin used her photo from the Discovery Program in the 2011 September issue of Diolog magazine and earned an Award of Excellence for visual design, single photo.
