Five Episcopal Students Selected for Publication in New Book

Five students from St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Houston have been selected for publication in the I Write: Short Stories by Kids for Kids collection. Drew Cain, Audrey Murdock, Ronan Panicker, Zoe Doyle and Kiera O'Reardon entered the creative writing contest, their work will be included in the anthology along with 38 other students across Texas.

The contest was held by READ3Zero, a non-profit literacy foundation. According to their press release, READ3Zero "has embarked on a mission to help share aspects of the literacy and publishing world, influencing the lives of children to learn outside the classroom. One of the primary creative projects at READ3Zero is the annual short-story contest, which emphasizes the concept that reading and writing go hand in hand."

The selected students have been invited to a literacy and book signing event at the Houston Public Library Downtown at 500 McKinney on December 1 at 2 p.m.  This awards ceremony will offer individual recognition in a certificate of excellence to each student author and illustrator followed by individual reading times from the Star Story Authors at 2:30 p.m. Autographing will follow the awards ceremony at 3:30 p.m. Refreshments and celebration will accompany the event.  This event is scheduled to close at 4:30 pm.
