Houston Kids to Participate in 30 Hour Famine

The youth of St. John the Divine, Houston, began participating in 30 Hour Famine 4 years ago. It is a ministry of World Vision that encourages youth ministries to go hungry for 30 hours while learning about world hunger and serving the community.

The 30 Hour Famine begins March 22 at 6 p.m. at SJD. Additionally, the youth pray, worship and do things to get the word out about child hunger.

Each year the Famine has grown in the number of students who participate and funds raised for World Vision. In 2010 and 2011, the SJD Youth were in the top 30 highest fundraising groups and last year were the 9th highest fundraising group GLOBALLY with over $25,000.00 collected. More students participate in the 30 Hour Famine at SJD than any other youth program or trip SJD leads.

For information about sponsoring a youth in 30 Hour Famine, contact Zach Meeks,   To donate online, go to the SJD Youth fundraising page.
