Join St. Andrew’s In Walk To End Hunger

This Sunday, St. Andrew’s, Pearland, will put their feet to the pavement to end hunger as they participate in the CROP Hunger Walk Houston benefiting Meals on Wheels of Greater Houston. Partnering with Interfaith Ministries, St. Andrew’s has already signed up more than 50 people for a 5K or one mile walk that will see all funds donated to help transport nutritious meals to those in need.

“We have people of all ages participating and a few working as volunteers at the walk,” said Debbie Allensworth, Associate and Mosaic Campus Pastor at St. Andrew’s. “Our local Pearland Meals on Wheels is also part of the walk.”

So far the Pumpkin Church team has raised more than $1,400 for the walk, the top fundraiser in the Houston Walk so far, with hopes to raise that number before the walk this Sunday.

If you’re interested in donating to the Pumpkin Church Crop Walk team, more information can be found here. Proceeds will go to national and international hunger relief programs.

CROP, which stands for Christian Rural Overseas Program, started in 1947 to help Midwestern farm families share their grain with hungry neighbors in post World War II Europe and Asia. Today, the walks are interfaith hunger education and fundraising events sponsored by Church World Service and organized by local offices across the country. With more than 1,600 CROP Hunger Walks each year, more than five million people have participated in 36,000 CROP Hunger Walks in the last two decades alone.
