Kilgore Newspaper Profiles New Rector

The Kilgore News Herald welcomed the Rev. Debbie Daigle to the community with a profile of her life and work. Daigle previously served at Holy Innocents, Madisonville. There, she helped to create a community garden that evolved into a true community gathering place.

 

In the article, Daigle says she hopes to bring a spirit of community service to Kilgore as well.

During the summer, Kilgore’s St. Paul’s Episcopal Church welcomed Rev. Debbie Daigle, and now she is getting to know the community she serves.

 

The mother of two and grandmother of four joined the priesthood in 2010 – even after the bishop in the Jackson, Miss., diocese expressed some concerns about female priests.

 

She brings with her experience in the management and health care fields. She also has experience as a missionary in both the United States and Honduras. She was a medical missionary for 12 years, she said, before coming to Kilgore.

 

Her real calling, is in community service, she said.
