Lay Chaplaincy Training at Trinity, Houston

Trinity, Houston, will sponsor training for individuals interested in clinical pastoral counseling for lay persons.  The first in a series of seminars will be held January 30-31 at Trinity, 1015 Holman, Houston from 7-10 pm on Friday and 9 am-4:30 pm on Saturday.  The sessions are limited to eight participants. Cost is $125 and registrants must provide a brief biography and a statement describing their interest in the training.

The weekend session will constitute the first 10 hours of a 100-hour course for participants who elect to continue the training in clinical pastoral education for lay persons.  The tuition for the 100-hour course is $850; the $125 for the first 10 hours may be applied toward the total tuition.

Upon successful completion of 100 hours of clinical supervision, participants can use the Letter of Successful Completion as documentation of a basic level of training.  Persons who elect to undertake further training may apply to one of several certification organizations for credentials as a lay clinical chaplain or counselor.

The Rev. Dr. Raymond J. Lawrence will teach the course at Trinity. Lawrence is founder of the General Secretary of the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (CPSP) and most recently served as Director of Pastoral Care at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University. Previously he held positions at St Luke's Episcopal Hospital, Houston; St. Joseph's Hospital, Houston; and New York Methodist Hospital.
