Lisa Martin became the new diocesan president of the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) at their 113th annual retreat, October 17-19, 2014 at Camp Allen. Martin, a member of St. Mark’s, Austin, succeeds Betsy Sullivan who  presided as president for the past three years.

During Sullivan's tenure, the ECW Board focused on changes in the bylaws to streamline the Board's positions. Martin indicated she plans to continue implementing the changes discerned by the board during their visioning process as well as provide more opportunities for outreach initiatives focused on women’s issues.

“It is by engrossing ourselves in the church community through outreach projects and our various ministries that we find our true fulfillment in Christ,” Martin said.

Martin said she plans to make the ECW's board presence felt more locally by providing spiritual growth opportunities throughout the Diocese and at the ECW’s Annual Retreat each fall.

With 10 convocations in the Diocese, Martin plans to set aside time to meet with the local ECWs for parish visits. Her hope is to visit each convocation during the next three years. To schedule a visit or talk about starting a women's group in your parish, contact Martin at .
