Mosaic in Action Asks Community Partners 'What If?'

What if...

Church was people and not buildings?

Developing relationships was critical?

Serving others was natural?

The Mosaic Campus of St. Andrew’s, Pearland, in conjunction with an aligned non-profit, Mosaic in Action, hosted its first lunch for those active in making a difference in northern Brazoria County. Mosaic in Action seeks to mobilize and empower local people and groups active in making Brazoria County more livable and connected. The vision for the lunch was to begin building relationships between people who serve but who often are unaware of what others are doing or what resources are out in the community. Mosaic in Action seeks not to duplicate or dictate but to listen, connect and, where there is a need, possibly develop a response.

Twenty one people participated in this first lunch from area churches, a mosque, a school district, special needs groups, event planners, food pantries, a therapy stable, Communities in Schools, a financial planning ministry, the arts and a cancer support group.

Attendees were asked to sit with people they did not know, then paired off to answer two questions. “What specifically are you passionate about right now?” and “What is your most pressing need right now?

Mosaic in Action plans to host more gatherings quarterly in an effort to promote more local involvement in the community and cooperation between local organizations.
