The Diocese of Texas welcomed two new additions to the Office of Lifelong Formation over the past week. Jamie Martin-Currie is the new Missioner for Christian Education and Matt Blank takes over as the Missioner for Youth and Young Adults.

Martin-Currie will oversee the children's commission and serve as a curricula consultant, maintaining EDOT’s resource libraries and managing logistics for the annual formation conference. She has over 15 years of experience in children’s ministry in addition to a Master’s degree in child development from Bank Street College of Education. Martin-Currie joins the diocese from St. Andrew’s, Pearland, where she served as parish administrator.

“Jamie is incredibly passionate, experienced, and gifted,” said the Rev. John Newton, Canon for Lifelong Formation. “She is a wonderful addition to our diocesan team.”

Blank will head both the youth and young adult commissions. His main mission will be to connect youth workers together throughout the diocese as he oversees all diocesan youth functions and manages the annual youth workers conference. Blank was previously the director of youth ministries at St. Mark’s in Bellaire. He graduated in 2009 from Texas A&M with a degree in biomedical science.

“Matt is very gifted and will take youth ministry in our diocese to a whole new level,” Newton said.

Martin-Currie and Blank will take the places of Martha Lewis and Laura Henry, who served part-time as the department restructured and transitioned under Newton.
