Pumpkin Patches Sprout Up in Time for Fall

pumpkin patch 2The beginning of October marks pumpking season in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. Many church will have thousands of pounds of pumpkins delivered to their doorsteps in the next couple weeks to sell as a fundraiser.

In Pearland, St. Andrew's is in their 13th year of hosting a pumpkin patch. Last year, the church sold tens of thousands of dollars worth of pumpkins, unloading more than 140,000 pounds of them over the course of a month. The church's pumpkin patch consistently ranks in the top 15 in the country. The church will be open every day throughout the month of October.

Holy Cross, Sugarland holds the title as the largest pumpkin patch in Fort Bend County. Their patch only operates on the weekends in October, but features musical performances, professional photography, face painting, food, and homemade crafts.

Many other churches are also gearing up for their pumpkin patches. In the past, churches from Austin to Henderson, and everywhere in between have participated in the successful fundraising opportunity.
