St. David’s Church Announces Local Grant Recipients

The Grants Committee for Community Outreach (GCCO) of St. David’s Episcopal Church announces the awarding of grants to four Austin non-profit organizations. Awards of $10,000 each will be presented to the agencies on Sunday, September 25, during morning worship services.

Grant funds come from proceeds of the Next-to-New Shop, a consignment, resale, and antique store that also serves as an outreach ministry of St. David’s. Since 1959, The Next-to-New Shop has been a part of the Austin landscape as the only not-for-profit consignment/resale shop giving back to the community. The shop is operated by a small staff with a large number of volunteers.

St. David’s Episcopal Church has a long history of helping people in need in the Austin community, and that tradition continues with the awarding of the 2016 outreach grants. The organizations and the services to be funded with GCCO grants are:

  • IACT (Interfaith Action of Central Texas)- Interfaith Action of Central Texas exists to build healthy relationships between the faith communities of Central Texas.
  • Austin Diaper Bank- Austin Diaper Bank is a non-profit organization that provides diapers to babies, toddlers, and senior citizens in need.
  • Austin Clubhouse- Austin Clubhouse believes recovery from mental illness is possible. It is a community that offers hope, respect, and opportunities for personal development.
  • Trinity Child Development- Trinity Child Development Center provides quality, affordable early child care and education to children within our economically and ethnically diverse community. It strives to provide stability and support to children in a way that will positively impact future generations.

Additional Information about the 2017 GCCO grant process will be available in December 2016 at www.stdave.org.
