St. David’s to Offer Animal Blessings “To-Go”

St. David’s, Austin will celebrate St. Francis day this year by taking its “Blessing of the Animals” tradition to pets and their owners on the Lady Bird Lake hike and bike trail. For no cost, owners can have their pet blessed by one of our clergy or lay ministers who will be present on this day. Pictures of pets will be blessed too!

“Being a downtown church, we’re always looking for new ways to connect with our neighbors and those who inhabit this great city,” said the Rev. Katie Wright, Associate Rector. “Church happens more than just on Sunday mornings in the pews. Offering prayers and thanksgiving for everything in our lives- including our pets- is a daily reflection of who we are and how we hope to serve those around us.”

St. Francis of Assisi is the Patron Saint of animals. He is honored each year for his love of all creatures. The Blessing of the Pets will take place on Monday, October 3 at Auditorium Shores (near the dog park area west of 1st St. and south of the river) from 8 to 9 a.m. and also from 7 to 8 p.m.
