St. Francis, Houston Names New Head of Middle School

Susan B. Lair, Ph.D., announced the appointment of Stephen Lovejoy as St. Francis Episcopal Day School’s new head of middle school. A dynamic and experienced educator, Lovejoy joined St. Francis Episcopal as interim head of middle school last summer.

“Throughout the fall, Steve put his considerable energy, passion, and dedication into action, helping students achieve continued success by safeguarding and promoting the rich opportunities and well-rounded education for which our school is known,” said Lair. “He is a tremendous asset to St. Francis Episcopal and I am delighted to welcome him permanently to our team.”

Prior to joining SFEDS, Lovejoy served as assistant head of school and director of athletics for Holy Trinity Episcopal School in Houston. In addition, his experience includes serving as a teacher and coach at Houston-area schools; Episcopal High School, St. John’s School and Grace School. He also taught and coached at Northfield Mount Hermon School in Mount Hermon, Mass., in his early days as an educator, and gained additional experience as a graduate teaching fellow at Springfield College.

In his spare time, Lovejoy spends time with his family; runs; and plays golf. Certified in secondary education for grades 5 through 12, he attended Springfield College, where he earned a bachelor’s in sports science and a master’s in education.
