St. Martin's Joy of Giving Market Celebrates 25 Years

The Annual Joy of Giving Market, hosted by the Episcopal Church Women of St. Martin’s, Houston, marks its 25th season beginning on Tuesday, October 20, with an early bird shopping evening that kicks off at 4:30 p.m. The Joy of Giving Market is the primary fundraiser for St. Martin’s ECW outreach grants, which benefit organizations in the community who serve people in need.

The first Market was held in St. Martin’s Activity Center with approximately 30 merchants selling primarily Christmas items. This year, more than 80 merchants are expected to take part. The profits from 2014, a record of more than $95,000--support local charities including: Bo’s Place, Boys and Girls Harbor, Casa de Esperanza, Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, His Father’s Heart Ministries, House of Amos, Kids’ Meals, Open Door Mission, Spring Branch Family Development Center and many others.

Market Chair Betty Beathard was enthusiastic about the number of high-end merchants planned for this year’s event. “Shoppers can find the perfect gift for all the special people on the Christmas list and also know they are helping to support many people who have a difficult time, especially around the holidays.” She said there will be one-of-a-kind accessories, jewelry, home décor items and frozen entrees from the ECW Pantry among the offerings.

The Market, open this year Wednesday, October 21 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday, October 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., 717 Sage Road at Woodway, Houston. Tickets for the Tuesday evening Early Bird Shopping Night are $15 per person and can be purchased in St. Martin’s Bookstore & Gift Shoppe, located on the church campus. Admission is free during the event on Wednesday and Thursday. Visit Christmas shopping for further details.
