st. paul's halloweenFor the past several years the Navasota Police Department hosted "Treats on the Streets" for Halloween. The event started at 6 p.m. and candy was handed out by local organizations and businesses that were set up along Holland Street behind the Municipal Building. It promotes a safe environment for area children to trick or treat.

Last year's event attracted approximately 1,000 people that trick or treated for candy provided by businesses, civic and church groups. St. Paul's Episcopal Church participated in the this year's event, and nearly ran out of candy. They made approximately 1200 candy baggies that contained a little children's Halloween prayer, and nearly all were handed out.

"We scraping the bottom of the barrell, or in this case the cauldron," said Kathleen Dimmel. "We had a blast handing out candy with our fellow parishioners. Before my turn to hand out candy, I took my daughter Hannah trick or treating at the event, and as far as I could tell, St. Paul's was the only church that participated this year."
