St. Thomas', Houston, Holds Denim & Diamonds 60th Anniversary Gala

To commemorate 60 years, St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church recently held a grand celebration in their courtyard under a canopy of lighted oak trees and the bright Texas stars. The five-time world champion St. Thomas’ Episcopal School Pipe Band started the Denim & Diamonds gala on a high note, The Navigators provided music for the evening, Pappas Catering grilled steaks on-site, and the Texas Cupcake Queen provided delicious freshly baked sweets.

The evening began with the church rector, The Rev. David O. Browder, expressing thanks to Kirsten Herrscher and Melinda Little, parishioners and school alumna for their dedicated service in organizing the gala. He congratulated St. Thomas’ for 60 years of service to Jesus Christ, and looks forward to the next sixty years. A video honoring this special anniversary followed. Michael F. Cusack Jr., Headmaster of St. Thomas’ Episcopal School, which is the church’s largest mission, reflected on the great blessing the Church and School have been to his family, and to many others over the years.

The gala featured a wine pull, dancing and silent auction. “The party was just wonderful,” said Callie Robertson, longtime parishioner and daughter of T. Robert Ingram, St. Thomas’ founding rector. “We should have a party like this every month!”

The money raised will benefit the St. Thomas’ Episcopal School scholarship fund. To read the full story and see a video and pictures, please click here
