St. Thomas, Nassau Bay Helps Support St. Vincent’s House

On Saturday, December 12, St. Thomas the Apostle, Nassau Bay had 14 volunteers of all ages help deliver more than 50 bags of unsold clothing from their resale shop, the Nearly New Shop, and 149 wrapped children’s gifts to St. Vincent’s House in Galveston.

St. Thomas brings clothing down to Galveston about once a month in an event known as the “Great Clothes Out.” As this is the Christmas season, the church also provided gifts for children and teenagers were given a brand new backpack from St. Vincent’s House. Santa was also on hand to visit with each child and take photographs.

The event started with customers being able to pick up clothes, coats, hats, shoes and children’s clothing from the available clothing brought by St. Thomas volunteers. St. Vincent’s was able to give away 45 bags of clothing and serve punch, cookies and ice cream to those waiting. St. Vincent’s also raffled off seven frozen turkeys.
