On Tuesday, March 26, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Henderson, women from different denominations in the Henderson/Longview area will present a dramatic reading of the Stations of the Cross based on Women of the Passion: A Journey to the Cross, written by Katie Sherrod.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., members of St. Matthew's, First United Methodist, First Christian, and Calvary Baptist in Henderson as well as Woodland Christian Church in Longview and others will portray women and girls whose lives Jesus  touched. Women from Scripture narrate the story of Christ's Passion through the traditional 14 Stations of the Cross.

The audience will experience the Passion through the eyes of the widow with the mite, the woman with the flow of blood, the bent-over woman, the woman taken in adultery, and, of course, Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of Jesus. Sherrod's book sets the stage with Jesus' annointing by a woman, his denial by Peter described by the High Priest's maid, and Pilate's wife's dream. Then, station by station, the audience accompanies Jesus on his journey to the Cross ending with Mary's wild grief over the loss of her son and the peace she finds as she places him in the tomb.
