The Rev. Keith Pozzuto accepts call as Waco Campus Missioner

The Rev. Keith Pozzuto has accepted Bishop Andy Doyle’s invitation to become the first fulltime college missioner in Waco, the Diocese of Texas announced May 18, 2017. Pozzuto was most recently interim chaplain at All Saints School and also served as assistant rector at Christ Church, both in Tyler.

“Keith has deep experience in a variety of different contexts, all of which have prepared him to effectively lead the Baylor Episcopal campus ministry,” Bishop Doyle said. “We want to see this ministry expand beyond Baylor to McLennan Community College and Texas State Technical College and Keith’s energy, fresh ideas and collaborative spirit will serve our missional values well,” he added.

Pozzuto brings 16 years of experience with students. He traveled more than 35,000 miles and reached more than 20,000 young adults during a three-year tenure with Youth with a Mission, one of the largest evangelistic missionary organizations in the world, following high school. Subsequent ministry included helping to plant new worshipping communities.

Raised in the Episcopal Church, Pozzuto graduated from Geneva College, a Christian liberal arts school in Beaver Falls, PA with a Bachelor of Science in Community Ministry. He earned his M.Div. from Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, PA and was ordained in the Diocese of Pittsburgh where he served as a youth minister and later as rector of Christ Church, Brownsville, PA.

“Keith’s experience is leading evangelism efforts and his passion for missional ministry make him uniquely gifted for this new role,” Bishop Doyle said, “We look forward to a growing ministry with young adults in the Waco area through his leadership and in collaboration with our three Episcopal congregations there.”

In his spare time, Pozzuto enjoys reading “extremely long history books,” gardening and singing. He and his wife Melinda have two adult children, Samantha (Sam) and Gregory.

Expressing his excitement over the new position, Pozzuto said: “We Episcopalians are going to rock it out in Waco!“
