Trinity Galveston Hosts Holocaust March of Remembrance

Houston’s Holocaust March of Remembrance, April 16, 2016, will begin at Trinity Episcopal Church, in Galveston to mark the the harbor where many Jews landed over the years.

The march, which begins with opening prayers at Trinity, will continue down the center of the Strand, to at Pier 21. The Holocaust March of Remembrance is meant to honor survivors and allow their stories to be heard; to educate a generation who may be unaware of the horrors of the Holocaust, the attitudes and propaganda that allowed it to flourish and to remember those who were lost, those who fought for freedom and who helped the Jews and those who spoke out against what happened.

“We are very grateful to be a part of this event,” said the Rev. Susan Kennard, rector of Trinity, Galveston. “The March of Remembrance is an annual event throughout the United States which began in 2007 and hopes to encourage church members, clergy and others to stand against anti-Semitism and discrimination in their communities,” Kennard said.

Join members of the Episcopal Churches in Galveston, special speakers and guests in this important event beginning at 1 p.m., April 16, 2216 Ball Street, Galveston.
