Trinity, The Woodlands, Charters Junior Daughters of the King Chapter

On May 18, Trinity Episcopal Church of The Woodlands, Texas received its national charter for its new Junior Daughters of the King chapter from Jackie Eckersley, Houston Diocesan Director for the DOK. Junior Daughters are girls, age 7 to 21, who take a vow of daily Prayer and Service.

The Order gives them a special opportunity to grow in love and knowledge of Christ while serving their church and community. They wear a silver cross with the initials FHS - For His Sake - as a symbol of their promise. As these Junior Daughters mature and graduate from school, they can consider transitioning into the lifelong commitment of the DOK.

Jackie said that Trinity's Little Flower chapter became the 16th Junior Daughters chapter in the state of Texas. Nine girls were installed as members, ages 7 through 11. Two of these girls, Abby and Emilie Choate, became fourth generation members of their family to join the Order of the Daughters of the King.

Adding to the uniqueness of this event, two mother/daughter teams were also installed at this same service, Jessica and Camille Earl and Cindy and Lily Taylor. The Co-Directors for the Little Flower chapter are Judy Isphording and Cindy Taylor. Their chaplain is Molly Carr, and the Rev. Gerry Sevick is the Rector of Trinity.
