Warm Bodies, Warm Hearts

Between November 1 and 17, St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church and School will concentrate on spreading warmth to homeless men and women of the greater Clear Lake area through The Mercy Tree. This organization provides hot meals for hungry and homeless individuals in the area south of Greater Houston at lunchtime throughout the week and dinner on Sunday.

Because Mercy Tree's operation is completely dependent on the generosity of donors and volunteers, St. Thomas will gather new or gently used blankets, sweaters, hoodies, socks, gloves, caps, instant hand warmers and disposable rain ponchos to help keep this vulnerable population warm and dry in the coming winter months.

During this drive, St. Thomas’ students will learn about weather, how to protect themselves and others and about gratitude and giving. The virtue focus for November is “respect" and is embodied in this drive to “spread warmth and feel warmth” towards others. All items will be delivered to The Mercy Tree on November 17. For more information, contact Shelby Cefaratti at . Visit www.themercytree.org if you are interested in serving.
