The Houston-area 20s & 30s Service Day at the Houston Food Bank was a great success that included forty young adults from seven different congregations gathered together to help end hunger by packing meals for at-risk schoolchildren. Lined up next to fraternity brothers, local volunteers and corporate groups, the team spent hours giving back to their community.
This was the second collaborative event organized for area young adults, with more planned. The first, a social gathering called “Wine and the Word,” brought together members from Christ Church Cathedral, St. Martin’s, and St. John the Divine.
Following its success, the initiative was expanded to include more congregations from across Houston. Through these and other social, networking, and service events, the group hopes to build a city-wide Episcopal young adult community.
