Youth Supports Mission in Houston and Dominican Republic

Hunter Kolon gathered 650 books to donate to Lord of the Streets, Houston. More information at www.mission-comfort.org.

Hunter Kolon, a member of St. Dunstan’s, Houston, and a Junior at Klein Oak High School in Spring, recently collected and donated more than 650 books and Bibles to Lord of the Streets, a homeless ministry of Trinity Episcopal Church. Kolon founded Misión Comodidad de Tejas, Inc., dba Mission Comfort, in response to a mission trip she took to the Dominican Republic.

In addition to the used book and Bibles, Mission Comfort has provided donations of used clothing and shoes to HCC Children’s closet and to Lord of the Streets, and sponsored an underprivileged child in the Dominican Republic for the past two years. Also, through T-shirt and bracelet sales and private donations, Kolon’s Mission Comfort team provided funding for 14 water filters to be installed in the rural sugar cane villages of La Romana, in the Dominican Republic, as well as paid to ship 600 pounds of comfort items to the people of the area. Kolon will return to the DR this summer for her third mission trip to distribute the items and install water filters.
